According to GiveMeSport, Spurs are poised to make a ‘lowball’ approach for Ivan Toney this summer, as Brentford has already reduced his asking price to under £50 million.

West Ham and Tottenham have been mentioned as the two most probable clubs to make a deal for Brentford’s number nine in the coming weeks, but Spurs have yet to make an official approach.

According to TalkSPORT, Ivan Toney hopes the Lilywhites will make a bid for him, giving Spurs an advantage in the hunt for his signature.

Spurs seek a discount on Ivan Toney.

Even though Brentford reduced their Toney price tag once this summer, Dean Jones claims the Lilywhites do not want to pay more than £40 million for the England international.

He adds that Richarlison could yet leave N17 soon, allowing Ange Postecoglou to acquire a new striker. Jones said: “It is still possible that Richarlison would leave Tottenham. There has been chatter of Santi Gimenez and Jonathan David, and they are on the list, but so is Ivan Toney. If they can get him for less than £40 million, I don’t think it’s a bad deal for Tottenham.

Spurs Website Opinion:

Ivan Toney for under £40 million would be a huge coup for Tottenham this summer, comparable to how they grabbed James Maddison at a discount last year. I assume that is exactly what Spurs are doing as well, waiting for Brentford to lower their asking price even further as they become more desperate to sell.
