Troy Parrott appeared for Excelsior Rotterdam for the first time since the beginning of March, after recovering from a hamstring injury, he scored and assisted for his temporary team in a big win. However, despite not being on the pitch, he received a red card.
Parrott has had a reasonably great year on loan with the Dutch club this season, with the Spurs player already boasting eight goals and four assists.
While Excelsior has been hovering about the relegation zone in the Eredivisie, Parrott’s reputation has remained intact.
It’s unclear whether it will be enough to pique Ange Postecoglou‘s interest ahead of next season. According to a recent Football Insider story, Spurs are open to selling Parrott this summer, with several Bundesliga clubs believed to be keen.
Troy Parrott scored a goal, assisted, and received a red card.
His most recent performance has undoubtedly piqued the imagination of German fans. Here is what Alasdair Gold had to say about Parrott’s remarkable comeback effort on Friday night.
He reported: “An eventful night for Troy Parrott after retuning from injury for Excelsior Rotterdam in their 4-0 win against Volendam, with a goal, assist and a red card at the end of the game, long after he had been substituted.”
While the goal and assist are to be applauded, Parrott couldn’t help but become engaged in a scuffle deep into injury time. The young striker entered the field of play and was found to have hit an opponent in the face (or ear).
The red card appears to be a little severe based on the footage, but at the end of the day, you can’t touch someone near their face, and he shouldn’t have been involved in the first place. Still, it’s encouraging to see him score and assist on his comeback.
