Spurs were ruthlessly made fun of as they learned who was playing in the stadium.

The public has made fun of Catfish and the Bottlemen for the stadiums they chose for their tour the following year.

The group announced on its Twitter /X account that they will be performing twice in August 2025. According to one post, the “jokes write themselves” now that Van McCann and the rest of Catfish and the Bottlemen have confirmed dates at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

After the band’s performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, many started comparing the band’s name to the London-based team’s style from the previous 10 years. The team has been called “bottle jobs” by football fans on several occasions, so the jokes that have followed have been predictable.

“THE BOTTLEMEN PLAYING AT SPURS,” a user captioned a GIF of Homer Simpson giggling uncontrollably. When someone else mentioned September 15th as the date for the “Bottlemen,” they were really talking to the North London Derby that day, which pitted Arsenal against Tottenham. A third person chuckled: “Catfish and The Bottlemen at the Tottenham stadium HAD to be on purpose it’s too perfect.”

“Something really really funny about The Bottlemen playing at Spurs’ stadium,” another person said. Some people think Catfish and the Bottlemen won’t live up to the high expectations for the tour, following the pattern of unsuccessful Tottenham Hotspur squads. One said: “Wish I was as confident as these lot thinking they can even get close to selling out a 60,000+ capacity stadium.”

Someone another said: “I’m going to be bold here and suggest that Catfish and the Bottlemen aren’t Beyoncé and should, for want of a better term, consider pubs or an 02 Academy.” A number of festival dates, including a headline slot at Leeds Festival, have been announced in anticipation of the band’s comeback. However, two dates at the football stadium of Spurs in the Principality in Wales have been called a “shambles”.

“No new music and no chance they sell these out, shambles,” a fan said. Another said, “Joke lines come to mind on their own. The Bottlemen are being hosted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.” As one user put it, “This is going to be embarrassingly undersold.”
