Stoke City are interested in a Leeds United player

Liam Cooper has been linked with a move to the Whites’ league opponent.

According to Ross Heppenstall, Stoke City are a possible destination for Leeds United centre-back Liam Cooper.

Following years of dismal league results, the Potters spent the summer rebuilding their roster, with some fans anticipating that this season would be different.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that they were able to entice a number of good players to Staffordshire during the last window, things haven’t quite worked out that way.

Enda Stevens and Lynden Gooch have lots of experience at this level, and there are many of good players that have come, but Steven Schumacher may be looking to make some January signings to put his stamp on the team.

After all, this is his first season as Potters manager, with his predecessor Alex Neil directing the summer renovation.

The Potters‘ major problem this season has undoubtedly been a lack of goals, but they appear to be interested in Cooper, with Stoke one prospective option on the table for the experienced defender.

Liam Cooper’s thoughts on Leeds United’s future

Cooper, whose contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the season, is desperate to have clarity on his future, according to Heppenstall.

However, it does not appear that he will be starting often between now and the conclusion of the season, with Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk being two of the first names on the teamsheet.

Cooper did, however, start against West Bromwich Albion, and it remains to be seen whether Struijk will replace him in the starting lineup today.

Cooper‘s contract issue appears to be significant to him, with the seasoned defender eager to have his future addressed.

Liam Cooper’s position on his Leeds United future
He has to acquire reassurance about how much game time he’ll get at Elland Road.

If he’s going to be a regular starter, he should think about staying in West Yorkshire since he’d enjoy the experience of playing frequently in a promotion-chasing team.

If he wants to stay past the end of the January window, he must also request a contract extension.

If he is offered an extension and certainty, his performance levels may improve, allowing him to keep his starting role.

You can understand why he wants assurance about his future, because he may prefer to go on in January rather than spend the summer as a free agent.

As a free agent, he may receive offers, but suitable offers are not assured, and he wants clarity as quickly as possible.
