Murillo, a defender for Nottingham Forest, has pledged to stay with the team despite Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur’s summer interest.
Following a point deduction, it was reported back in March that Forest may try to sell Murillo in an effort to avoid financial violations. After only moving to the City Ground last summer, the 22-year-old made 36 appearances for Forest in the Premier League and immediately made an impression.
Many elite European teams were interested in signing him because of his potential; Chelsea and Tottenham were supposedly leading the chase.
But Murillo has stated in an interview with The Telegraph that he wants to play for Forest for at least one more season.
“I learnt a lot over that season, though initially I wasn’t sure if I could live up to my potential. Despite constantly having faith in my abilities, I was self-conscious. I had a decent season with a lot of work, and this season should be even better, God willing. I still think I’m capable of more. We also think that as a team, we’ll work harder and pursue our goals higher.”
Forest’s new Premier League season begins on August 17 at the City Ground when they host Bournemouth.
