In his notes for this weekend, Jacob Steinberg mentions Billy Gilmour’s return to Stamford Bridge as a Brighton player.
Gilmour‘s talent shone through in every game for Chelsea, but he wasn’t given chances, and a disastrous loan to Norwich killed him. We have no doubt that he will be eager to impress at Stamford Bridge, as Steinberg notes. He was always a hard worker, and most Chelsea fans still oppose the decision to sell him. We anticipate a warm welcome in the stadium on Sunday.
Things did not go well for Gilmour at Brighton either. He had to work hard to prove his worth to Roberto De Zerbi, but he appears to have done so now.
Whatever you think of the transaction, it’s nice to see a player we still like doing well. Of course, we hope he has a bad day this weekend, but we also hope to see him running the show against Arsenal and Tottenham in games for years to come.
