After years of trying to strike it lucky, Nottingham Forest appears to have mastered the art of recruiting. In terms of player acquisitions, Forest has had some bittersweet outcomes since being promoted to the Premier League.
Forest signed 23 players in their first summer back in the Premier League, and seven more in January.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga, two players Jamie Carragher feels are superior to Brennan Johnson, were signed by Forest last summer, and the team made some smart moves.
This time, Forest signed eleven players, two of them, David Carmo and Marko Stamenic, went on season-long loans to Olympiacos.
Even though the window is already closed, Forest is working hard in preparation for January, and it seems like targets are already being considered.
Luca Koleosho, a Burnley star, is wanted by Nottingham Forest
The Reds are planning a move to try and sign Burnley winger Koleosho during the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.
At Turf Moor this summer, it appeared as though the last person out would be turning out the lights, but Koleosho is still in the Northwest.
Burnley signed him from Espanyol and he was a leading light last season despite the Clarets getting relegated from the Premier League.
He only made 15 appearances before a knee injury curtailed his season but when he played he looked extremely talented.
Forest aren’t the only club eyeing a move for the 20-year-old, with a host of Premier League clubs fancying him including Newcastle.
Scott Parker’s thoughts about Luca Koleosho
It’s safe to say that the Burnley manager has expressed his happiness at the player’s continued presence on the team.
Koleosho has appeared in five of Burnley’s six Championship games this year, tallying two goals.
Parker recently gushed about the versatile winger, expressing how delighted he is.
“Luca is far from the finished article and I say that with real excitement,” he stated to the Burnley Express. It’s quite amazing since, as far as I can tell, we’re all aware of what an amazing player he is, but he still shows up for practice and never stops pushing himself.
Koleosho appears to be a wanted guy when the window reopens since Forest is constantly looking for gifted young people.
During the summer window, adding Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa to the roster was one of the goals.
One player who has been linked to leaving Forest is Elanga, and if the Swedish international press were to depart the City Ground, Koleosho might be in line.
