Ange Postecoglou had a somewhat good first season with the team last year, leading Spurs to fifth place in the standings after winning their first ten games.

The Australian will aim to surpass that this season and earn a spot in the Champions League, and the Lilywhites have already bolstered their roster with the acquisition of Leeds United prodigy Archie Gray.

It now seems likely that the North London team will re-sign one of its previous players.

Marcus Edwards, a winger for Sporting CP, is reportedly a target for Tottenham this summer, according to Football Insider.

According to the source, Spurs have requested to be kept updated on the player’s condition, while Crystal Palace, another London club, is interested in the 25-year-old.

Edwards left Tottenham in 2019 after just one senior game, joining Vitoria Guimaraes before going to Sporting in 2022.

He has appeared in almost 100 games for his current team, scoring 21 goals and providing 26 assists.

Last season, the Englishman scored four league goals as Sporting won the Portuguese top flight title.

Edwards’ current contract with the club expires at the end of the 2025/26 season, but it appears increasingly probable that he will leave Lisbon before then.

Spurs are reportedly keeping an eye on Edwards’ circumstances even if they haven’t yet publicly expressed their interest in the youngster.

When Gray left the Whites, Tottenham acted quickly to sabotage the 18-year-old’s intended transfer to Brentford.
