The Leeds United switch is linked to Birmingham City Star.

Championship powerhouse Leeds United has expressed interest in Birmingham City’s star player, so it looks like the city may be losing one soon.

Many of Birmingham’s highly-rated players have drawn interest from teams in higher leagues following their terrible relegation to League One the previous season. A lot of Championship clubs are turning to the Blues players to bolster their roster in front of the 2024–2025 season.

Nevertheless, Birmingham doesn’t seem to be under any significant pressure to sell any of its stars during this transfer window, given their recent financial turnaround.

Jordan James: Is he moving?

Jordan James, a 20-year-old phenom from Birmingham, is reportedly attracting interest from Leeds United this summer, but at least one Premier League team is vying for his services.

James has played for the Blues for over 100 games at the age of 20, which is incredible for a player to have at such a young age. In addition, he is a full-fledged international having made 11 games for Wales since making his debut in 2024.

Despite Birmingham’s poor season, James was one of the team’s best players, making 42 Championship games and netting eight goals to establish himself as one of the game’s elite performers.

Why would Leeds want the midfield player from Birmingham?

Leeds is interested in the midfield player after Glen Kamara, their starting central midfielder from the previous campaign, was recently sold to Rennes for £8.4 million.

James is apparently the ideal Kamara substitute, according to manager Daniel Farke, as they aim to contend for the Championship championship in 2024 following their heartbreaking May play-off final loss.

James has already piqued curiosity around Europe; Atalanta, the winners of the Europa League, had previously expressed interest in the Welshman.

Along with joining a terrific group of people he already knew, he would also be joining other Welshmen Ethan Ampadu, Daniel James, and Joe Rodon, who were already important members of their team.

Is a deal likely to happen?

For Leeds, closing the deal won’t be simple. In addition to Birmingham’s determination to stand by any transfer values they may have for James, they will need to stave off interest from highly regarded clubs.

But if they do, it will be among the greatest buys in the Championship this year, and he will significantly increase the Whites’ chances of winning promotion.
