The most recent transfer rumors involving Nottingham Forest, while Watford manager Valerian Ismael talks about the summer window connection to Reds attacker and former Hornet Emmanuel Dennis.
Emmanuel Dennis, an attacker for Nottingham Forest, was available for signing in the summer, but Watford manager Valerian Ismael says he declined.
Dennis was one of the players that the Reds traded away from the City Ground during the transfer window. Less than a year after signing a contract with Forest, he made a season-long loan move to Istanbul Basaksehir, a Turkish team.
The 25-year-old left the Hornets in August 2022 to join Steve Cooper’s team. And he might have ended up back at Vicarage Road, Ismael said.
Dennis’ name was mentioned as a possible alternative, according to the Watford manager, as the team tried to bolster its front line.
However, he turned down the chance to sign the Reds player. When his name appeared on my desk, I declined. Ismael told the Watford Observer, “Simple as that.”
Dennis has so far appeared in four league games for Basaksehir. Of those, two have appeared in the starting lineup. He hasn’t yet discovered the net’s reverse.
Having failed to make an impression during his tenure at Forest, he was mainly limited to a substitute role last season, making 16 of his 25 appearances in the Garibaldi coming off the bench. Twice, he scored—once against Newcastle United and once against Aston Villa.
The Nigerian is still bound to the City Ground by contract. Although it was not stated when he signed, the contract was reportedly four years long.
In the summer, the Reds added Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and forward Divock Origi to bolster their attacking lineup. However, Cooper’s team has yet to find many goals this early in the year.
