The president of Hajduk Split, Luksa Jakobusic, feels that Ange Postecoglou is preventing Ivan Perisic from leaving Premier League powerhouse Tottenham Hotspur.
Ivan Perisic wants to resume his career at Hajduk Split after more than ten years away, according to Jakobusic, who made this revelation at a meeting with the team’s supporters on Sunday.
On the shores of the Adriatic, one of Croatia‘s most beloved sons began his professional life. Before hanging up his boots, he has made no secret of his ambition to complete his journey, and after turning 34 in February, it appears that Perisic has decided that the time is perfect for this prodigal son to come home.
The former Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund star, according to Gianluca di Marzio, is prepared to end the final 12 months of his £165,000-per-week contract with Tottenham Hotspur before accepting a sizable pay cut at a Hajduk Split team that hasn’t won Croatia’s top division since Perisic’s first stint at the club.
But things aren’t really that straightforward.
Ivan Perisic is considering leaving Tottenham Hotspur, reveals Jakobusic in a statement to 24Sata and Vercenji. Ange Postecoglou, the new Tottenham manager, is not quite as excited about the possibility. In order to help Postecoglou bring the London giants back into Europe in 2023–24, he wants to keep the services of a player with a wealth of experience and the versatility to succeed in numerous places.
Postecoglou favors wide players who can extend the field and work hard. Despite being seen as ‘Antonio Conte‘s guy,’ Perisic, a left-footed left winger who has played for both Inter Milan and Tottenham, might yet play a significant role in the club’s ambitions.
The most recent injury to Ryan Sessegnon may make Perisic’s aspirations of returning to Croatia even more difficult. Surgery was performed on Sessegnon in an effort to address a hamstring problem.
In the meantime, legendary Hajduk coach Zoran Vulic is pleading for Perisic to make a miraculous comeback for a team that is anxious to break their 18-year domestic title drought.
“God, just let him come in and sign!” Vulic shouts.
“Hajduk has to compete for the title every year, Perisic or not. Hajduk must do it, to put it simply. Whether they are successful or not is another matter, but Hajduk is obligated to contend for first place year.
We had a terrific chance to win the league last season, said the team. We are to blame for it not happening. Additionally, I believe that Hajduk’s chances have significantly improved with the arrival of Perisic.
