The Tottenham players are anticipated to participate in this week’s Hearts friendly following their victory behind closed doors

This week, Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou are traveling to Scotland for their first official summer pre-season match.

On Wednesday, Tottenham will play against Heart of Midlothian to formally kick off their preseason campaign, welcoming back Ange Postecoglou to Scotland.

Postecoglou played for Celtic for two years while he was in Glasgow, where he won five trophies in two seasons, including the domestic triple crown in his last year. As his team gets ready for the upcoming Premier League season, he will now cross the border to lead his Spurs team to Edinburgh for a friendly match on Wednesday night at Tynecastle Park.

Postecoglou will still have a formidable team to take on the journey up to Scotland, even though Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso, Rodrigo Bentancur, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Guglielmo Vicario have all been given time off following their performances at the Copa America and Euro 2024.

On Saturday afternoon, Spurs and League One team Cambridge United played a friendly match behind closed doors. Spurs played two different lineups in each half, winning the first 5-0 and tying the second 2-2. You can presume that the majority of the players who participated in the training ground game will be in the squad to play Hearts, barring any criticism or reactions from that encounter.

New summer arrivals. Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall both played, as did Timo Werner, who has had his loan deal with the club extended for another season. Brennan Johnson scored three goals in the first half, while captain Son Heung-min added two. Mikey Moore, a young right winger, scored his first goal with the seniors in the second session, while Werner forced the other goal.

Pedro Porro, Yves Bissouma, and Dejan Kulusevski all appeared in the first half, while Manor Solomon played his first minutes of 2024 after knee problems last season. James Maddison, Werner, Oliver Skipp, and Emerson Royal were among those that appeared in the second half lineup when Postecoglou changed the lineups.

In addition to Ben Davies, Alejo Veliz, Dane Scarlett, Ashley Phillips, Alfie Devine, Pape Matar Sarr, and Ben Davies, it is expected that Bryan Gil will play again, despite reports that he will leave Tottenham this summer.

Richarlison was seen observing from the sidelines at the training site, however it’s unclear if he joined the action at all following his recent recuperation from an injury. It is not anticipated that Destiny Udogie will be ready to play just yet as he continues his recovery from surgery on his left quadriceps at the close of the previous season.

Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon have been working with the squad this preseason but were not included in the game against Cambridge, indicating that their futures lie elsewhere, implying that they will not play in Edinburgh.

Many young players played against Cambridge, and Postecoglou will have to select how many of them will travel to Scotland. Jamie Donley is thought to have done an excellent job as a left-back, but he has been linked with a loan move away, while highly-rated centre-back Jun’ai Byfield, who only turned 16 in March but has impressed many in the academy, was also given the opportunity to play in front of Postecoglou due to defensive absences.

Yago Santiago, Max Robson, Tyrese Hall, George Abbott, and Luca Gunter were among the Under-21 players who participated.
Considering that it’s likely that two different Spurs starting lineups will be used during the match, Postecoglou will have a lot of choices to make regarding which players will travel.
