The “unbelievable” Chelsea player Nottingham Forest almost signed this summer still piques their interest.

Nottingham Forest tried to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on transfer deadline day in the summer. The player was a wanted man and now he could still be on the City Ground radar.

The 24-year-old was the subject of interest from Bayern Munich in the summer. Once that move fell through, Forest came forward with a £25 million bid that was accepted by Chelsea ahead of the deadline.

Chalobah didn’t fancy a move to Forest though. He chose to stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge but he will almost certainly be allowed to leave the Blues when the window reopens.

Forest would need to adjust their center-back lineup.

Chalobah, a target for Forest, has shown to be a highly valuable player for Chelsea when needed. In 2019, Rio Ferdinand described him as “unbelievable,” expressing his admiration for the center-back talent.

It’s reasonable to assume that if a center-back signed, the team might lose two players. Felipe and Scott McKenna have contracts expiring in the summer of 2020, therefore it’s likely that they will both be leaving.

Murillo has settled in well at Forest, and Willy Boly, whose contract expires in the summer, looks like he’s untouchable right now based on his early-season play.

Even though he’s having trouble getting into games, Joe Worrall is still the team captain. On the day of the transfer deadline, Andrew Omobamidele was also signed, and he appears to be a future addition.

A signing like Chalobah would be intriguing considering the fight for spots. However, if Cooper wants him, perhaps the club’s recruitment team will go for him once more in January.
