One Tottenham Hotspur prospect has impressed Phil Foden with something he’s done. Spurs have had a strong start to the transfer window.
Before finalising a transfer for Archie Gray, they signed Timo Werner again, this time on a loan. Additionally, young Lucas Bergvall is officially here.
But Tottenham isn’t quite done yet. Before the transfer market closes in August, they are anticipated to add a few more players, with the addition of a new striker perhaps on the horizon.
Ange Postecoglou needs a new striker this summer, and sources suggest that Toney has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham for a move this summer. The striker would be a fantastic addition to Spurs due to his versatility and ability to score from penalty kicks, in addition to his many other qualities.
Toney scored in the shootout in England’s quarterfinal Euro 2024 matchup against Switzerland. The fact that he struck the ball without even looking at it impressed a lot of people.
After being substituted out prior to the shootout, Foden expressed his amazement at such tactic and praised Toney profusely for his spot-kick.
“I think Ivan’s because it’s crazy, to be honest,” Foden said to talkSPORT when asked which penalty was his favourite. He produces the force required to score while never glancing at the ball.
Brentford were simply unwilling to allow him leave for a little fee at the time, and it appears that their demands are not any less stringent now.
According to reports, the Bees want £60 million for Toney, but Tottenham will only spend £45 million in this transfer season.
It remains to be seen whether the two sides can reach an agreement on the fee, given that Toney is thought to have already negotiated personal terms with Spurs.
