Leeds United go south to play Southampton on Saturday afternoon in the ninth round of Championship fixtures – and Che Adams has delivered his opinion on Leeds.
Daniel Farke‘s team enter the game unbeaten in their past six Championship games, having won three and drawn four of our eight thus far. Leeds is in sixth place thanks to those 13 points.
Leeds exudes a positive energy. Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe, Ethan Ampadu, Cree Summerville, and many other Leeds players are in excellent form. A welcome diversion from the struggles of the top tier.
Southampton were also demoted, but they have struggled recently. Four straight League defeats, including a 5-0 loss to Sunderland and a 4-1 defeat to another demoted team, Leicester City.
So, Leeds and Southampton have had very different fortunes heading into Saturday’s meeting. However, Leeds could struggle if they do not participate. Adams, a long-term goal for Leeds, delivered his verdict.
“Suffering a few heavy defeats has been difficult,” Adams told the BBC. “We handled it well.” There are some positives to build on. We should have taken a point against Middlesbrough and Ipswich.
“We’re just going to keep going because it’s going to be a long, long season.” We still have big teams to face. “On Saturday, there’s no better team to play against than Leeds at home,” Adams added.

Leeds are likely favourites in this encounter. Despite playing away from home, Leeds will rely on their form – and Daniel Farke appears to be getting everything right so far.
The pressure is already on Russell Martin. While it is early in the season and a Premier League hangover is always possible, Southampton must turn things around soon – for Martin’s sake. But we should easily win this.
