“There will be bids…” Leeds United issued a high-profile transfer warning.

In an interview with MOT Leeds News, former England player Paul Robinson feels Leeds United would face a serious battle to keep Archie Gray in the summer if they do not earn a Premier League return at the first opportunity.

Despite losing a number of key players during the summer transfer window, both on loan and permanently, the Whites still have a strong group.

However, their summer business allowed them to bolster their roster, giving them a serious chance of gaining promotion, despite the division’s strength this season.

Despite their summer activities, an academy graduate has stood out this semester, with Gray stepping up and impressing.

Gray was given the opportunity to impress in the middle of the park during the early stages of the season due to their lack of midfield depth, and he seized it with both hands.

Also impressing at right-back, the teenager’s versatility has been incredibly beneficial to Daniel Farke, as that region had previously been a major weakness before Connor Roberts replaced Luke Ayling and Djed Spence.

The youngster put pen to paper on a new contract last month to extend his deal until the summer of 2028.

This will come as a relief to Leeds fans considering he was reportedly attracting interest from big clubs.

But Robinson believes the Whites may have a tough job in their potential quest to retain him in the summer if they fail to win promotion at the end of this term, even with his new deal in mind.

He stated:

“Without a doubt, they are preserving their asset monetarily while also rewarding a young player, one of their own, whom they would like to keep for the duration of the deal if possible.

“All being well, Leeds will be in the Premier League next season, and he will be a Premier League player.” If not, they’ll have to work hard to keep him for next season, as there will be bids that will put their resolve to the test.

“Then it all comes down to what the club want and what the player wants, but for security for both they are in a really good position at the moment.”
