TalkSPORT broadcaster Jim White confirmed the transfer of Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams to Bournemouth live on air.
White revealed the news in response to Alex Crook‘s tweet that a deal had been reached between Bournemouth and Leeds, and Adams will now undergo a medical ahead of his move to the Vitality Stadium.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian transfer guru, also revealed on his own Twitter account (18 August) that a physical had been scheduled in London today and that a deal might be done within the next 24 hours.
“Tyler Adams to Bournemouth!” announced White live on talkSPORT (18 August, 10:55am). Isn’t this what’s going on?”
Crooks answered with the most recent update, saying: It is! Tyler Adams, one of a number of Leeds players with a release clause, has a physical scheduled for this afternoon.
“Daniel Farke has been lamenting how poorly the football club is run.”
“Bournemouth triggered the release clause on Monday, that news broke here on talkSPORT, and the USA captain set to become the latest arrival at the South Coast, will be a direct replacement for Jefferson Lerma, who of course let his contract run down and joined Crystal Palace.”
Farewell
After Chelsea pulled out of a deal to sign Adams a few days ago, there may have been some hope that Adams would continue at Elland Road past the summer.
However, there was always the possibility that another Premier League team might jump in and activate the release clause, and it’s not surprising to see Bournemouth do so given their past interest earlier in the window.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke has already seen many key players depart Elland Road this summer, and perhaps the most likely to seek greener pastures is now on the verge of following those players out of the club.
After weeks of speculation and speculation about Adams‘ future, the Leeds United faithful can now bid an untimely farewell to a player who was always destined to seek greener pastures following the club’s relegation, and Bournemouth have undoubtedly made another impressive signing.
It’s a surprise Adams‘ inevitable exit has taken this long, but his current hamstring injury was a major factor in his delayed departure, and it appears the Cherries are now taking a chance on the American with the former Leipzig midfielder seemingly not close to a return for another couple months.
Another issue for Farke to deal with is how Leeds United intend to replace Adams.
