TIM SHERWOOD JUST SLAMMED PEDRO PORRO AGAIN AFTER TOTTENHAM’S DRAW AT MANCHESTER UNITED

Pedro Porro was quickly sacked by Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood. He is now continuing his verbal attacks.

When the 24-year-old joined then-Antonio Conte‘s Spurs in January, it was a game to forget as the squad suffered a crushing defeat at Leicester City.

Even though Pedro Porro had only been in the country for a few weeks, Tim Sherwood was open about his thoughts on the player.

After Tottenham‘s 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Sunday, the former title-winner told Premier League Productions, ‘I was quite critical of Pedro Porro early doors and I still am’.

Even though the £39 million signing has been one of his team’s finest performers this season, Tim Sherwood believes ‘he will let you down’ due to his incapacity to defend.

Compared to last season, the all-action right-back is now playing in a system that suits his approach and allows him to play more on the front foot.

Ange Postecoglou wants his fullbacks to play as high up as possible, which leaves them vulnerable when attempting to track back and defend.

But Tim Sherwood didn’t take that into account when he retaliated against the player.

Pedro Porro’s  defence style

“I was very critical early doors of Pedro Porro and I still am,” Sherwood went on to say. “I don’t think he is a good defender.

“When challenged to defend, as we witnessed in this game, he will disappoint you.

“But pushing forward and expressing, the fitness, ball-handling skill, and passing range are great. The manager has realised this and is using him to his advantage.”

Pedro Porro is enjoying a strong season.

Given that Postecoglou wants the player to push as high as possible and play like a number ten, you’ll be exposed in the back.

There will be plenty of space for opposition attackers to exploit, as Marcus Rashford discovered over the weekend.

The message from the training ground and the dugout would be to push more forward, wreak havoc in the final third, and force the opposition to retreat deep into their own half.

And it’s fair to argue that Tottenham’s fullbacks have done so brilliantly this season.
