Timo Werner’s deal with Tottenham is seen a “no-brainer,” but it may present a “dangerous option” for Ange Postecoglou

Timo Werner’s signing is a “no-brainer” for Tottenham, according to John Wenham, who also thinks the German and James Maddison can develop a “strong understanding.”

With Son Heung-min departing for the Asia Cup, Ange Postecoglou filled in as Spurs’ first confirmed signing of the January transfer window: a forward.

Son Heung-min

This Monday, the team made the formal announcement that they had signed RB Leipzig attacker Werner on a six-month loan (Tottenham Hotspur formal Website, January 9).
For a cost of £15.5 million, Tottenham will have the opportunity to finalize the agreement in the summer (Football London, 9 January).

Wenham thinks the trade will work out well for Spurs considering this amount.

Wenham remarked exclusively to Tottenham News, “It seems like a no-brainer to sign that player.”

We know Postecoglou prefers players who can play all three forward positions, and he provides both speed and versatility.

The buy option is quite low, and it’s unclear what Red Bull Leipzig will gain from this transaction.

“We could get him for £15.5 million, which is incredible value for a 27-year-old Germany international with 54 caps, if he is a tremendous success at Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou

In addition to winning the Champions League, he has prior experience in England and comes across as a sincere individual. He seems excited to be at the club and feels privileged to play for Tottenham, based on the interviews I have watched of him on the club’s platforms.

“His attitude has never been a problem; he just needs to regain his self-assurance.

“I believe that the two might develop a solid understanding when Madison returns. Werner can sneak in behind Maddison with his quick speed, and they can play those balls over the top, which will be a really scary option for Tottenham.
