Tottenham are among the leading candidates to capture out-of-favour £45 million midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, and two other undisclosed Premier League clubs are allegedly among the leading contenders for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips in a January deal.

According to Gazzetta, Phillips is looking for a new club because he is no longer in Pep Guardiola‘s plans at Manchester City.

Juventus appears to be hopeful about securing Kalvin Phillips, hoping that Manchester City will be hesitant to trade the midfielder to a domestic rival, giving them a potential advantage in the hunt for his signature. This information is consistent with a previous rumour claiming that Tottenham Hotspur, along with Newcastle, will face stiff competition from Juventus for Phillips.

As England prepares for the European Championship next summer, it appears Kalvin Phillips prioritises consistent playing time. This could pose a problem for Tottenham Hotspur, particularly when competing with teams like as Newcastle and Juventus, where he may have a better chance of regular first-team participation.

Spurs now have Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg vying for the position of holding midfielder.

Phillips may benefit from moving abroad in order to get a real fresh start, thus a move to Juventus, where he will not have to compete for a starting berth, may be preferable.
