Tottenham's Centre-back

Tottenham are currently considering signing the league leader’s 26-year-old center-back in the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a January transfer for Union Saint-Gilloise defender and Japan international Koki Machida.

Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou have been impressed with the left-sided centre-back, according to 90min.

Koki Machida is thought to have the physical attributes required to play in Ange‘s high defensive line, and he might fill in for Micky van de Ven at Tottenham.

Koki Machida

Tottenham had long been expected to prioritise the signing of a center-back in January, even before their Dutch defender was injured.

Although Cristian Romero and Van de Ven have shown to be a steadfast duo, Ange does not appear to be confident in his alternatives beyond them.

Spurs‘ late defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers saw Eric Dier and Ben Davies significantly rethink their playing style.

And that is unlikely to be the case now that Postecoglou has had more time to prepare his squad and more transfer windows to work with.

Machida, who has only four caps for his country, could be a far better stylistic fit for Postecoglou, who is well-versed in Japanese football.

Koki Machida

Tottenham are now interested in bringing Koki Machida to the club in January.

Spurs will have a very active January transfer window, made much more important by recent events.

Given James Maddison‘s injury, Tottenham have made their position on Giovani Lo Celso quite clear.

Spurs can’t afford to lose any more alternatives in their already-thin roster, therefore newcomers are desperately needed.

Koki Machida

Tottenham appeared to be enjoying the luxury of a relatively leisurely squad construction this season.

The starting XI appeared to be well-established, and the lack of cup competitions made the schedule hard.

However, two major injuries to the side’s spine may have changed everything.

Tottenham‘s pursuit of Koki Machida, a midfielder originally regarded by Tony Bloom and Brighton Hove Albion, could prove to be a wise choice.

Signing Machida may not also command the highest pay, allowing Spurs to focus on other areas for growth.
