Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou wants to add a new winger to his team this winter and is interested in Al-Ittihad’s Jota, according to The Telegraph.
The pair enjoyed a great spell at Celtic, where they won five trophies, including the Scottish championship. While Postecoglou moved for Tottenham, Jota joined Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League but has fallen out of favor with the club since.
According to the Telegraph, Spurs are looking for a loan deal for Jota, and it is uncertain whether Al-Ittihad will demand a high sum for the winger.
Tottenham’s captain, Son Heung-Min, will travel to South Korea for the Asia Cup and will miss up to four Premier League games between January and February.
Spurs‘ search for a winger has been expedited as the club hopes to loan Jota out in January.
Despite being out of favor in the Saudi Pro League, Jota is under contract at King Abdullah Sports City until June 2026.
According to 90min, Spurs are “confident of reaching an agreement with Al Ittihad to take the winger on an initial loan with a purchase clause.”
Spurs are interested in Jota
Jota’s amazing contribution at Celtic, which comprised 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 matches across all competitions.
Celtic won two Scottish Premierships, one Scottish Cup, and two Scottish League Cups as a result of this outstanding performance. Despite their shared success, Postecoglou and Jota split up in the summer. Postecoglou went on to become the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, while Jota made a surprise move to Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.
He is a world-class player, and his assist against Ferencváros in the Europa League in 2022 was characterized as “sensational” by UEFA.
