Tottenham are now favourites to sign a £52 million player described as ‘extraordinary’ by Pedro Porro.

Tottenham Hotspur are now leading the charge to re-sign Marcus Edwards, a player described as ‘extraordinary’ by Pedro Porro.

According to Correio de Manha, the forward’s return to form for Sporting CP has rekindled interest from Premier League clubs.

Marcus Edwards

Marcus Edwards left Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 and has made quite an impression in Portugal. The 24-year-old made an impression for Vitoria Guimaraes before joining Sporting in 2022.

Last season, he put in some outstanding performances in the Champions League, scoring against his former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham are said to have scouted their academy product in recent months but have yet to make a re-signing offer.

The Englishman had a slow start to the season, failing to register a single goal involvement in his first four league games. However, he has scored twice and provided three assists in his last five league appearances, and it appears that his form has piqued Tottenham‘s interest.

Tottenham are the favourites to sign Edwards.

According to Correio de Manha, Edwards is once again attracting interest from English clubs.

Tottenham and Chelsea are the current favourites to sign the talented winger.

Edwards was eventually allowed to leave Spurs a few years ago due to concerns about his training application.

But he’s made a huge impact in Portugal, and he’s even received high praise from Pedro Porro, who played with the winger at Sporting.

During an interview with The Guardian in March, Porro called Edwards a ‘extraordinary’ talent.

Of course, Tottenham signed Porro from Sporting in January and waived a 15% sell-on fee for Edwards. According to Fabrizio Romano, this means they are only entitled to 35% of the fee Sporting receives for the winger if he leaves.

Edwards has long been linked with a return to North London, and he appears to be a good fit for Postecoglou’s squad.

The gifted forward possesses exceptional ball skills and could play on either side of Australia’s front three.

Edwards‘ contract reportedly includes a release clause worth around £52 million, but given Tottenham‘s sell-on clause, you’d think there could be a deal here.
