Tottenham: Concerns about Ange Postecoglou Update on Destiny Udogie’s injury and the decision on Djed Spence

During Southampton’s crushing defeat, the left-back was substituted out.

After being substituted against Southampton, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou thinks Destiny Udogie has not sustained a major injury.

Spurs scored a goal after just 36 seconds, a fourth goal after 25 minutes, and a 5-0 lead before halftime, completely dominating the Saints in the first half.

Spurs, who have been dealing with a debilitating injury crisis and have only won twice in nine games, would have been extremely alarmed when Udogie was substituted off before the half.

Postecoglou, however, is optimistic. “He’s felt something, but he actually wanted to continue, but we just can’t take risks at the moment,” Udogie told TNT Sports after avoiding a catastrophic injury. We’ve reached the absolute minimum.

“I don’t think it’s anything too bad.”

After starting at right-back and then covering for Udogie on the opposite wing, Djed Spence received his first-ever Spurs start. His performance also impressed Postecoglou.

Postecoglou went on: “He has had to wait. He has always performed well for us, even though he hasn’t performed often. Since full-backs are likely the only position we can cover, we haven’t been able to give him a lot of playing time.

However, we needed him to play—not only today, but at a high level—and he did. And his preparation and ability to execute all of that are a testament to his training and the work the coaches do with him.”
