Tottenham confirms lineup vs Newcastle; Postecoglou picks strong XI with two alterations.

Here is the Tottenham team that Ange Postecoglou has chosen to begin the club’s final game of the season against Newcastle in Melbourne.

Tottenham Hotspur’s season will officially conclude on Wednesday with a friendly match against Newcastle United in Melbourne.

The friendly, scheduled for Wednesday evening at the MCG but in the morning back home in the UK, concludes Ange Postecoglou’s debut season with a homecoming for the Greek-born Australian, who grew up in the city. He intends to employ the most, if not all, of his Tottenham players ahead of either a summer break following future international friendlies or time competing in the Euros or Copa America.

In front of an estimated 80,000 supporters inside the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground, Postecoglou has named the starting lineup, which will most certainly change in the second half.

It is a starting XI with only two changes from the one that began Spurs’ 3-0 victory over Sheffield United before flying to Australia, with custodian Brandon Austin replacing Guglielmo Vicario and Emerson Royal replacing Cristian Romero.

Romero and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were unable to travel owing to personal reasons and injury, respectively, while CeGiovani Lo lso, who had been injured in recent weeks, also did not travel, with the club’s other ailing players remaining at home in the United Kingdom. Postecoglou does not want any more injuries to cast a pall over his tour of Australia.
