Following the summer departure of Harry Kane, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou may allow another player to leave for Bayern Munich.
According to speculations, Tottenham could sell another player to Bayern Munich during the January transfer window. As Thomas Tuchel seeks to enhance his defence options, Eric Dier may follow former teammate Harry Kane to the Allianz Arena.
Since Ange Postecoglou‘s arrival as head coach, Dier has slid down the pecking order at Tottenham. He made 31 Premier League starts last season but has yet to play a single minute this season in any league.
Summer commitment Micky van de Ven has forged a strong defensive partnership with Cristian Romero, and Spurs‘ absence of European games means less workload for the first-choice pair. Dier has only made the matchday squad three times in nine games and has yet to come off the bench.
After entering the final year of his contract, he decided to stay and fight for his spot after being linked with a departure in the summer. However, a move during the winter transfer window is possible.
Tuchel wants to sign a center-back in January, according to Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast. Trevoh Chalobah of Chelsea is thought to be his top target.
However, it is claimed that Bayern management is opposed to signing Chalobah and put a stop to it in the summer. According to the podcast, Chalobah is unlikely to relocate to Germany in January.
Tuchel will have to go elsewhere, and as Bild revealed earlier this month, Dier is one candidate under consideration. Dier reaches 30 early next year, yet he comes highly recommended by close buddy Kane.
On the eve of the new season, Kane departed Tottenham for Bayern Munich. He’s made an immediate impact, scoring nine Bundesliga goals and one in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich might reach a pre-contract agreement with Dier in order to sign him for free the following summer. Tuchel, on the other hand, may seek to add defensive cover during the season before making a January move.
Hugo Lloris, another Spurs mainstay, is also gone under Postecoglou. The Australian coach has not discussed their duties with them.
