Tottenham decide to split ways with the ex-Real Madrid player; despite good loan performances this season.

Reguilon’s sale is part of Tottenham’s summer reconstruction.

Club source John Wenham has urged Tottenham Hotspur to consider accepting a loss in a prospective sale of left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Sergio Reguilon had a roller coaster season that ended lately. He finished the season with a superb period of form at city rivals Brentford after spending the first half of the season on loan at Manchester United, which the Red Devils dubbed splits in the winter window as Luke Shaw’s injury return.

The Spaniard has only made 67 appearances for Tottenham since joining from Real Madrid on a five-year agreement worth £32 million in 2020. However, his efforts to adjust to life in England have resulted in a number of loan moves. The 27-year-old also spent time on loan at Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid’s rivals.

The rise of Italian ace Destiny Udogie in his position has effectively closed the door at White Hart Lane for the Spaniard, and as things stand, it is difficult to see him surpassing the former Udinese star in the Spurs’ pecking order.

Wenham feels Spurs should be “realistic” in the transfer market.

John Wenham, the owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, argues that the North Londoners should be “realistic” about Sergio Reguilon’s cost. He admits that the former Madrid great will not command more than £5 million this summer.

In an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham stated: “Reguilon performed well at Brentford.” I believe there will be interest in him, but Tottenham must be realistic. At best, you can earn £5 million for him. It would be a significant loss for the club and Levy, but sometimes you just have to let players go.”
