Tottenham are optimistic about signing Radu Dragusin after further negotiations.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are confident they will sign Radu Dragusin this month after further talks, despite his agent throwing cold water on a deal.
Spurs are in daily contact with Dragusin‘s camp, according to Football Insider (31 December), as they expedite plans to finalise the transfer.
Florin Manea, his representative, stated that his client does not intend to leave Genoa in January.
However, it is understood that the centre-back, who is eager to join Ange Postecoglou‘s side, has signed personal terms.
Genoa are also willing to allow the 21-year-old leave for a permanent transfer because they want a significant January cash bonanza – they are not interested in a loan or a loan-to-buy transaction.
According to Football Insider, the Serie A club has already rejected a straight loan bid from Spurs.
This season, the Romania international has started all of Genoa‘s games in all competitions in the middle of the defence.
This season, he has two goals in Serie A: the game-winning goal in their 1-0 win over Hellas Verona and an equaliser against Inter Milan.
The former Juventus player is admired for his ability to carry the ball out from the back, as well as his physicality and great passing ability.
Spurs‘ first-team defenders have been plagued by injuries this season, most notably the long-term absences of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Postecoglou is looking for defensive cover in January to supplement his shaky backline.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League league after a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve, and they will play Burnley in the FA Cup on Friday (5 January).
