Tottenham’s Dane Scarlett is expected to play against Luton, according to team news.
John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose believes Dane Scarlett will face Luton Town following his “phenomenal” spell with England’s Under-20s.
Scarlett had a positive March international break.
In two Under-20 Elite League outings, one as a second-half substitution, the 20-year-old scored five goals.
He scored a 24-minute hat-trick against Poland’s Under-20s on Friday (22 March), followed by a brace off the bench in a 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic‘s Under-20s on Tuesday (26 March).
Scarlett has made few appearances under Ange Postecoglou since returning to North London from a failed loan spell with Championship club Ipswich Town.
However, following his performances for the Young Lions, Wenham feels he will be given significant playing time when Tottenham face Luton Town on Saturday (30 March).
Wenham, the founder of popular Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, told Tottenham News: “Scarlett had a great international break.
“I was really happy for him because I’ve seen some Tottenham fans underestimate his potential as a result of the rise of other young players like Jamie Donley.
“Scarlett is still a tremendous young talent, and his performances for England’s Under-20s tell you all you need to know.
“Coming back to North London, his confidence will be flying high, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was handed 20 minutes or so against Luton on Saturday.”
Could Ange Postecoglou use Dane Scarlett against Luton Town at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday?
Scarlett will undoubtedly feel ready to prove himself in North London.
It’s been more than three years since he made his Premier League debut for Spurs, and despite a couple of difficult loan experiences in England, he has yet to fully establish himself with his hometown club.
However, as his recent international exploits show, he is more than capable of finding the back of the goal, and it appears like all he needs is one moment of magic to rekindle his confidence at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That moment of magic might come against Luton, and with the forward on fire, Postecoglou would be wise to start him against the Hatters at some stage during the game.
