Tottenham will be able to sign Ivan Toney for £50 million this summer.
The North London club has adjusted well with Harry Kane’s departure, but Ange Postecoglou believes his team requires a world-class striker to carry them through the next season.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time, and according to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, the English international can be signed for £50 million.
Heung-min Son and Richarlison have done well as central strikers this season. However, the Australian boss believes they need a proven goal scorer to compete with the best sides in the Premier League.
The Brentford striker hasn’t been in great form since returning to football in January after a suspension for violating gambling regulations. He has played 15 league games but has only four goals to his record. Despite his dismal form, Tottenham are willing to invest in him due to his proven Premier League track record.
Arsenal and Chelsea were also interested in his services, but with the two clubs taking a back seat, Spurs now have a free run to sign the 28-year-old striker. O’Rourke feels a deal will only be done on Spurs’ terms, and that £50 million should be enough to get it done because it will benefit all sides.
The Bees will earn a substantial profit from his transfer, having signed him for only £5 million back in 2020.
