So far this season, the shot-stopper has performed admirably for Ange Postecoglou‘s team. His goalkeeping performances have helped Spurs finish fourth in the Premier League table after 12 games, one point ahead of Villa in fifth.

However, the star was forced to leave the Italy national team camp due to flu symptoms, preventing him from making his debut this month. According to our colleagues at football.london, the 27-year-old was hoping to get minutes against either North Macedonia or Ukraine during the next week, but he is now doubtful to start against the Villans.

The Spurs shot-stopper is yet to make his debut for the Azzurri, but boss Luciano Spalletti has given him a berth in the team after a strong start to life under Postecoglou.

His abilities were on display in a 4-1 loss to London rivals Chelsea, where, despite surrendering a hat-trick to Nicolas Jackson, he was praised for his outstanding performance after his team was reduced to nine men.

Vicario has been replaced in the Italy squad as a precautionary measure by Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, but he will join a Spurs treatment room full of stars like James Maddison, Micky Van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie, all of whom were forced out of international action over the break due to injury.
