Tottenham hold discussions to sign 6ft 3in star; £30 million deal might be done this summer – report

Tottenham are in discussions to recruit Alessandro Buongiorno.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks to recruit Torino striker Alessandro Buongiorno this summer, according to the Italian outlet Calciomercato.

The Lilywhites are reportedly planning to strengthen their team in the coming window to continue the rebuilding process under Ange Postecoglou‘s leadership. The Australian manager is looking to strengthen the centre-forward position and the engine room, but he also wants to add a new defender.

Alessandro Buongiorno

According to Calciomercato, after recently signing Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, and Radu Dragusin, Spurs are still monitoring the Italian market to strengthen their team and have identified Buongiorno as a genuine alternative.

According to the source, Tottenham have already increased their attempts to get him and have made preliminary negotiations to learn more about the technicalities of signing him in the upcoming window.

Serie A

According to Calciomercato, Buongiorno is likely to depart Torino this summer, and the Italian club is seeking a fee of roughly £30 million to let their top player leave. So, the Lilywhites can entice him to the newly renovated White Hart Lane at a reasonable price.

According to the source, AC Milan and Napoli are also interested in signing him, but it would be tough for them to compete with Spurs on this transaction, therefore the Rossoneri intend to present a unique proposition to defeat the North London club in this race. As a result, Postecoglou‘s team will need to move fast to sign Buongiorno.

The 24-year-old, who is 6ft 3in tall, has had a productive season so far, scoring three goals and preserving 13 clean sheets in 25 Serie A games.

Buongiorno is a left-footed centre-back, and given Postecoglou’s preference for playing a left-footed defender on the left side of the defence, he should be able to manage Micky van de Ven‘s game time next season if the Lilywhites sign the Torino star this summer.

However, it would be intriguing to watch if the North London club decides to make a formal offer to recruit the Italian in the forthcoming transfer season to strengthen their backline.
