Roberto De Zerbi, the head coach of Brighton & Hove Albion, has revealed that he may be without up to ten players when Tottenham, led by Ange Postecoglou, visits.
Simon Adingra (hamstring) and Kaoru Mitoma (ankle) are the most recent additions to the long list of missing players. Last week’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace saw both players substituted off; the former exited the pitch on crutches and may miss “four to six weeks,” according to his boss.
However, there is some positive news. When the team sheet is turned in to the referee on Thursday night, full back Pervis Estupinan will be listed as a substitute and is eligible for selection.
The manager in goal faces a selection dilemma in addition to the injury concerns. Bart Verbruggen has started the last three league games for Brighton, which is the longest streak of any goalkeeper since the beginning of the season. But given that it was his error that gave Palace the lead last week, it’s possible that Jason Steele may start in goal for Palace again.
Those still undergoing therapy include Tariq Lamptey, Joel Veltman, Adam Webster, Julio Enciso, Solly March, and Ansu Fati.
Tottenham Hotspur
Cristian Romero was forced off the pitch during halftime of the previous game because of tight hamstrings. Head coach Ange Postecoglou initially stated that Romero will be ready for his team’s next game.
But the Australian revealed on Wednesday morning that vice captain Romero would be out for several games, making him the latest victim in Tottenham‘s physio department.
“He [Romero] had a scan and he’s got a hamstring strain,” Postecoglou said to the media. We anticipate spending four to five weeks with him.
Alongside him on the sidelines will be Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic, James Maddison, Ryan Sessegnon, Micky van de Ven, and another centre half.
After serving his second of four game suspension, Yves Bissouma will once again be sidelined, while Destiny Udogie is back from suspension and should be back on the left side of the back four.
From the victory against Everton at home over the weekend, there are no new injury concerns.
