Tottenham Hotspur will ‘accept offer’ for defender that joined Leeds United on loan.

Leeds United took two Premier League stars on loan, and their fortunes changed dramatically.

Djed Spence appears to be on his way out of Tottenham again, this time for good, with rumours indicating that the Premier League club will accept a reasonable offer for the defender in the summer.

Spence’s 2023/24 season was divided among two loan periods in two different countries, neither of which proved fruitful. The aggressive full-back was viewed as an attractive signing when he joined Leeds United last summer, with Daniel Farke’s side even willing to pay a £1 million loan fee, but injury troubles limited his impact, and Leeds exercised a break clause when the January market opened.

Later that month, the 23-year-old joined Serie A club Genoa, but only appeared in eight league games before returning to Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window. However, he may not be in north London for long, with Football Insider reporting on his potential sale.

Spence’s contract with Tottenham extends until 2027, but after failing to impress boss Ange Postecoglou during brief stints in the squad and making no effect at each loan club, the attacking full-back will apparently be allowed to depart permanently. Spurs agreed to pay up to £20 million for the defender in 2022, but are unlikely to recoup that amount if he is sold, albeit a new price tag has not been given.

The right-back’s amazing Championship season at Nottingham Forest, which he helped his team win promotion by contributing to six goals and earning a spot in the Championship Team of the Season, was still vivid in Spence’s mind when he came at Elland Road last summer.

Although injury problems did not help, Spence was never able to replicate that form in the Leeds white shirt and was almost always benched when healthy. Leeds activated their break clause almost immediately upon the opening of the January transfer window, and manager Daniel Farke appeared to imply that application problems were a factor in Spence’s return to Tottenham.

The United manager stated, “Listen, we came here in the summer to create and to bring new values and to create a new culture within the club.” “We have expectations when we talk about a player, regardless of whether he is here on a permanent or loan basis. These expectations are significant in a number of areas.

The player’s potential and quality are obviously important, but so are his professionalism, discipline, workload both on and off the pitch, and soft skills. It also helps to paint a picture of him if he is a positive, dedicated member of the team who is also actively involved in these topics.
