Tottenham insider says the club could attempt to sell a player for under £3 million this summer.

Tanganga’s 2023/24 season has been plagued by injuries and a lack of consistent football, much like his entire Tottenham career. The academy graduate was loaned to Augsburg to gain game experience, but he did not play for them before returning to Hotspur Way.

Tanganga is now on loan at Millwall in the Championship, where he is finally getting some competitive minutes as he seeks to restart his career, but Wenham believes his Tottenham future may not go past The 24-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, but Spurs have the option to extend it for an additional year.

So it may come down to whether the Lilywhites want to let him leave on a free transfer.

Will Japhet Tanganga leave Spurs this summer?

Wenham believes Tanganga will either leave Tottenham on a free transfer at the end of the season or, if he shines on loan, be sold for about £3 million when the contract extension is triggered.

He said: “If Tanganga doesn’t play between now and the end of the season, I believe Tottenham will just release him.this summer.

“If he does play, then I think Spurs will take up the option to extend his contract by one year, and then look to sell him for somewhere around the £3 million mark.

“Time will tell, but I expect that either way he will be gone in the summer.

“As we can see the rebuild is taking place, and it is important to get these players out the door.

“We suddenly look very strong in defence which means that losing the likes of Tanganga and Joe Rodon would have very little impact on the first-team squad.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

The time has come for Tanganga to leave Tottenham. At this point in his career, he needs stability, and that won’t come with a bit-part role under Ange Postecoglou. Hopefully, he can earn a move to a decent Championship side and I expect Spurs will be ruthless by not extending his contract.

“If he does play, I believe Spurs would exercise the option to extend his contract by one year before looking to sell him for roughly £3 million.

Tanganga’s time with Tottenham is up. At this juncture in his career, he needs consistency, which won’t come from a bit-part job.
