Tottenham are planning to sell a number of players this summer in order to raise revenue for the club, and Djed Spence is one of them.
Spence was just bought for about £20 million last summer. At the time, Antonio Conte often stated that Spence was a potential star, and the right-back had little opportunities to demonstrate his abilities.
And it appears that the Spurs are willing to let Spence go totally.
Spence joined Tottenham following a successful season at Nottingham Forest, when he assisted the Reds earn promotion.
Forest wanted him on a permanent basis, but Spurs prevailed.
However, that did not work out, and it now appears that Spence will be on his way.
Clubs will take a chance, but Spurs will lose money.
There will be clubs that accept Djed Spence. He is a talented athlete who demonstrated his ability as a footballer at Forest.
The Spurs’ concern is recouping the money they spent on him in the first place. £20 million is a large sum, and few teams will be prepared to spend it on Spence right now.
Spence can’t be blamed for making the move to Tottenham and pushing himself. But it hasn’t worked out from the beginning, and a fresh start may be precisely what he needs.
