Tottenham overtake Liverpool for a ‘special’ €50 million goal machine, as agent drops transfer hint

Tottenham are reportedly preparing to make a big offer for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush this summer, but they will need to act swiftly to beat Liverpool to his signature, with allegations he is near the top of Michael Edwards’ wishlist.

Omar Marmoush

The Egyptian striker has spent his whole career in Germany, travelling between a few clubs on loan or permanent contracts but never truly finding a home until last season. Few anticipated the 25-year-old to be so successful after joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer last summer.

Indeed, with the Bundesliga club looking for a new centre striker to replace the prolific Randal Kolo Muani, who departed to PSG for €95 million, several sceptics questioned whether Marmoush could fill the Frenchman’s very large boots.

However, he has adapted to the role admirably, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in 33 games across all competitions thus far.

As a result of his form, which has seen him contribute a goal per 1.57 games, scouts have flocked to Deutsche Bank Park to plot a move to pull him away from the Bundesliga club, which is presently sixth in the table.

Predictably, there has been mounting talk that Marmoush has grabbed the attention of Premier League clubs, with Brentford and Newcastle among those who have expressed an interest in him ahead of the January window.

However, with his great form continuing, it was reported earlier this month that returning Liverpool executive Edwards, who is back at Anfield in a new job as CEO of football, highly suggested his recruitment to the Reds.

Tottenham is poised to make a bid for Liverpool target Marmoush.

To that purpose, Edwards is expected to make the 30-cap striker the first signing of his second term at Liverpool.

According to SportBILD, Tottenam is the club with the most interest in the striker, with manager Ange Postecoglou also keeping an eye on his growth and now appearing to have identified him as a priority target for the north London side this summer.

Tottenham said goodbye to Harry Kane last summer, and while Son Heung-min shifted into a central striker role to compensate, the club never completely replaced its talismanic frontman, despite the arrivals of attackers Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner thereafter.

As a result, their source indicates that Spurs will make an offer in the next weeks, though it is unclear whether the two teams would be able to reach an agreement.

Their first bid is expected to be around €30 million (£25.7 million), which is far lower than the €50 million to €60 million (£42.8 million to £51.4 million) they supposedly now value their striker at.

Spurs given optimism as striker hints at a Premier League switch.
The good news for Spurs is that SportBILD believes Frankfurt would not stand in the player’s way if he wants to transfer, with the Bundesliga club being open to selling him this summer, especially because any cash received will be 100% profit.

The 25-year-old, who understandably looks up to Mo Salah as an influence, is said to have ‘huge hopes’ of going to the Premier League and is eager to explore the possibility of doing so.

Earlier this year, the player’s agent, Michael Reschke, told Egyptian television: “We have good plans for Marmoush.”

Marmoush has recently delivered exceptional results, and a promising future awaits him.

“He now has a global market, so we don’t rule out receiving proposals from all around the world.

“This is not an unusual situation, and we should all anticipate it because his performance, level, and name have become like gold currency, and the enthusiasm he exudes on the pitch promotes him.

Marmoush is extremely popular at Eintracht Frankfurt, therefore offers are expected not only from Germany but from all throughout Europe.

“He has a completely unique style, his eyes are sharp, and I can’t compare him to anyone else. “He is a fantastic and unique player.”
