According to Fla Web in Brazil, Tottenham Hotspur plans to make an offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ João Gomes in the winter transfer window.
It was also said that Gary O’Neil‘s side requires at least €35 million to complete his transaction.
Since joining Wolves from Flamengo in January, the midfielder has been a consistent performer.
Another Brazilian outlet, Gávea News, now claims the 22-year-old is drawing strong interest from several Premier League clubs, particularly Tottenham.
It is also said that the north London club is ‘preparing a big proposition’ to sign him away from Wolves. The Brazilian’s contract runs until 2028, and the report suggests Tottenham‘s offer may be worth over £30 million.
Spurs have already improved their attack and defence this month, and they appear to be focusing on midfield. This is where the South American comes in, and while the title of Gávea News indicates he ‘will be sold’, the article does not back up that claim.
According to the report, if Tottenham makes an offer and Wolves agree to sell Gomes, Flamengo will earn 10% of the fee.
Gomes has made 20 appearances for Wolves across all competitions this season. Last week, the potential fee was set at €35 million, which seemed insufficient for such an important and young player.
Obviously, €30 million would belong in the same category.
