Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly received an official offer to sell one of their out-of-favour defenders during the summer transfer season.
Spurs owner Daniel Levy had great hopes for right-back Djed Spence, who rose to prominence at Nottingham Forest while on loan from Championship club Middlesbrough in the 2021-22 season.
Spence was instrumental in the Tricky Trees‘ promotion to the Premier League, and Tottenham fended off a bid from North London rivals Arsenal to sign him for £12.4 million.
The former England Under-21 international is already behind Emerson Royal and Pedro Porro in Spurs’ right-back pecking order, though the former is also expected to go amid ties with AC Milan.
Spence might be one of 12 Tottenham Hotspur departures this summer.
After failing to qualify for the Champions League last season, Tottenham manager Postecoglou is reportedly willing to part ways with up to 12 current first-team players, barring January departures Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic.
The Lilywhites have previously stated that Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga will become free agents at the end of the month, while record signing Tanguy Ndombele‘s contract has been terminated.
The focus now shifts to selling a slew of unwanted players, and Brazilian attacker Richarlison may be Tottenham’s marquee departure; Spurs are looking for attacking reinforcements and are thought to be open to offers for the ex-Everton man.
Bryan Gil, Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon, and Joe Rodon are all in the same situation, with the latter two having spent the 2023-24 season on loan away from Tottenham.
