Tottenham rivals are ‘working on’ a low-cost agreement to derail Johan Lange’s first transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur technical director Johan Lange is preparing for his first transfer window with the club.

Tottenham may come to regret their failed summer attempt to sign Lloyd Kelly. AC Milan and Juventus are reportedly interested in signing the Bournemouth star, denying technical director Johan Lange a cheap transfer in the January window.

Kelly‘s contract with the Cherries is set to expire at the end of the season, and he is unlikely to sign a new deal. As a result, international teams will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement prior to a free summer move.

Milan and Juventus, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, are hoping to do just that. The Rossoneri are actively ‘working on a deal,’ while their Turin rivals are ‘informed’ and ready to seize any opportunity that arises.

Kelly can play at center-back or full-back, and Spurs expressed interest in him on deadline day with a £20 million bid. Bournemouth declined the approach because there was no time to find a replacement.

Tottenham are now in danger of missing out entirely as AC Milan and the Bianconeri close in. A low-cost, low-risk acquisition could be just what Lange needs to kick off his tenure as technical director.

The Dane, who previously oversaw recruitment at Aston Villa, was appointed to replace Fabio Paratici earlier this month. Scott Munn, the Spurs‘ chief football officer, cited Lange’s ‘excellent track record in scouting and signing many talented and successful youth and senior players’.

Kelly has made over 100 first-team appearances for Bournemouth since joining in 2019. He progressed through the Bristol City ranks and was a regular for England at the youth level.

The 25-year-old has played in six of the Cherries‘ ten Premier League games this season, with manager Andoni Iraola having to wait until last Saturday for his first league win. Spurs, on the other hand, are riding high at the top of the table.

If Kelly decides to make the move to Serie A, he could end up in the same locker room as compatriots Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek at AC Milan or Samuel Iling-Junior at Juventus.

Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham have both had successful careers in Italy, and more and more English players are venturing outside of the Premier League.
