Tottenham’s agent speaks with Barcelona’s president about a January move

In recent months, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club.

Under previous boss Antonio Conte, the 28-year-old was a crucial player for the north London club, but he has dropped down the pecking order under the new regime.

Ange Postecoglou prefers a free-flowing attacking system, and the Danish international is not a good fit. Naturally, there have been rumours about his future at the club, and he is anticipated to go in the coming months.

The midfielder was initially linked with a move to Italy, and Juventus are understood to be interested in obtaining his services. However, according to recent sources, the midfielder’s agent has now held conversations with Barcelona about a possible January move.

Barcelona could definitely need more depth and talent in the middle midfield, especially after Gavi’s injury.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Team Talk, the representative of the Denmark international met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will make a formal offer to sign the player.

The 28-year-old has the experience and technical abilities to succeed in Spanish football and might be a valuable signing.

Tottenham are short on depth in central midfield, with players like Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr departing for the African Cup of Nations in January. It remains to be seen whether they are willing to further weaken the midfield by allowing the Denmark international to leave the club.

Spurs will be desperate to qualify for the Champions League and cannot afford to deplete their team any further.
