Tottenham’s intentions to sign Emerson Royal have been thwarted, as his anticipated move to AC Milan appears to have fallen through

Despite being in advanced talks, Sky Italia claims a “sensational U-turn” in the teams’ negotiations, according to MilanNews24.

According to reports, Milan has cooled their interest in signing the Brazilian defender and is currently exploring other options.
The Italian team made an initial offer of €15 million, but Tottenham turned it down and demanded more—probably closer to €20 million.
A final agreement between the clubs has not been reached, which is likely to cause the deal to fall through even though personal conditions, including a five-year contract worth €3 million annually, were apparently agreed upon.

After moving from Barcelona to Spurs in 2021, Emerson has had difficulty becoming a reliable starter under manager Ange Postecoglou.

He made 22 Premier League appearances last season, starting just 11 of them. He can play a variety of defensive positions, but he hasn’t established himself as the Lilywhites’ starting center and hasn’t left an impression on Postecoglou.

Tottenham is eager to let go of Emerson, whose contract is set to expire in June 2026, because the player does not share Postecoglou’s long-term goals for the team. Due to the Milan agreement falling through, Spurs will need to look into other ways to get rid of the 25-year-old full-back.

In order to streamline the team and reallocate funds to areas that better align with the club’s plan, the Lilywhites must now turn their attention to finding Emerson a new home.
