Tottenham’s manager confirms the 28-year-old’s injury on the training pitch; calling him a serious doubt for Sheffield United.

Tottenham will finish fifth in the league if they avoid loss against Sheffield United this weekend.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has said Gio Lo Celso is a doubt for the season’s final game after suffering an injury in training. The 28-year-old has been a regular on the bench this season, but he is now expected to miss the entire season after suffering an injury in training.

The highly-rated Argentinian would have most certainly played his final competitive game for the club, with Spanish clubs showing an increasing interest in his services. His lack of game time is expected to force him out the door as he seeks consistent playing time.

Ahead of this weekend’s encounter against Sheffield United, where the Lilywhites need a point to seal fifth place, Postecoglou stated Lo Celso was doubtful.

“The only one that’s a bit of a doubt is Gio Lo Celso,” Postecoglou told SPURSPLAY. “He got a knock on his knee, he didn’t train today but we’ll see in training tomorrow.”There are a few sore bodies, but nothing that will affect the group from the previous night, thus Sunday’s game will most likely feature a similar squad.

Despite a strong start, in which they won eight of their first ten games, the Lilywhites’ season has been disappointing.

This week’s setback to Manchester City was their 12th of the season, with at least two more than any other team in the top five. Given that they were knocked out of the League Cup and FA Cup, this has been an extremely disappointing season.
