Tottenham’s star fires back at Newcastle’s rival as their dispute heats up.

Guglielmo Vicario responds to Callum Wilson after Tottenham thrash Newcastle.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper has replied after an England striker accused him of exhibiting disrespect in heated situations.

Following Tottenham‘s Premier League victory on Sunday, Guglielmo Vicario and Newcastle attacker Callum Wilson continued their feud off the play.

Vicario appeared to pull faces at Wilson after save a poor header from the England attacker in heated circumstances near the end of Tottenham‘s resounding 4-1 home triumph.

Such antics clearly enraged Wilson, who accused Vicario of “lack of respect” in his post-match interview with Sky Sports, comparing it to the incident in which Three Lions teammate Jordan Pickford became embroiled in a furious brawl with Newcastle players following Everton’s 3-0 win at Goodison Park on Thursday night.

“There’s a way to win, isn’t there,” he went on to say. “I think we saw it last week when Everton was winning and Pickford was fumbling around.”

“For the header, the custodian [Vicario] starts pulling faces and messing around, and I thought it was just a lack of respect, but I’ve said my piece.” We’re mature men, and we go on.”

Vicario then cited Wilson’s Sky Sports interview in an Instagram Stories post that read: “Respect is given… to everyone who respects me!”

Tottenham moved up to fifth place with their first top-flight victory since October 27 thanks to a brace from the resurgent Richarlison and additional efforts from captain Heung-min Son – fit to start after an injury scare suffered in the home derby defeat by London rivals West Ham on Thursday – and Destiny Udogie, who kicked off the rout with his first Spurs goal.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side had begun a new era in spectacular manner before an injury crisis and a disastrous run that saw them set an unwelcome record as the first Premier League team to take the lead in five consecutive matches and fail to win any of them.

Howe Eddie

Vicario has been an important player for Tottenham since signing from Serie A side Empoli in a £17.2 million deal in June, swiftly establishing himself as one of the league’s top goalkeepers following the demise of long-serving former captain Hugo Lloris.

Wilson, meanwhile, has seven goals in 15 games across all competitions this season for a Newcastle side that has defied an ongoing injury crisis to keep flying high under Eddie Howe, but now appears to be seriously running out of steam after back-to-back heavy losses that have dropped them to seventh with a crucial Champions League tie against AC Milan coming up.
