Tottenham’s strategy to replace ex-striker Harry Kane

Tottenham intend to begin hunting for a suitable Harry Kane successor.

Kane moved to Bayern Munich at the end of the summer transfer season. The England international has continued to score goals in the Bundesliga and lost no time in informing Spurs fans of their impending loss.

After Kane left, Ange Postecoglou admitted that it would be difficult to replace him, but the Australian has Son Heung-min to help compensate, and Richarlison appears to be returning to form.

Despite the addition of Timo Werner to Tottenham‘s offensive options in the white half of north London in January, the club remains low on choices and quality up front.

If either of their main forwards suffered a catastrophic injury, it would put a team that has already demonstrated its limitations this season to the test.

Spurs are in a fierce battle for the top four with Arsenal and Unai Emery’s high-flying Aston Villa.

Many expected Spurs to suffer this season when captain and talisman Kane left to join Bayern Munich, but in a short space of time, former Celtic manager Postecoglou has transformed Spurs’ playing style and performance.

Journalist Ben Jacobs told FourFourTwo: “Tottenham still haven’t replaced Harry Kane, and while they’ve certainly brought in Timo Werner and Son to lead the line, they’ll still be looking for a striker. So you have major teams with enough money to spend £50 million or more, but there’s a lot of competition.

“I mean, Jonathan David is another one that everyone assumed would leave; Tottenham looked at him and nothing happened. Dusan Vlahovic was expected to leave Juventus during the summer transfer window, but instead stayed.

“Whereas last summer was about midfield stories – you know, Jude Bellingham going to Real Madrid, Moises Caicedo going to Chelsea, Declan Rice going to Arsenal – I think the upcoming summer is going to be about a flurry of big-name and elite-name strikers all on the move, and many of them to the Premier League.”
