On deadline day, Celtic FC Women added two additional players to their roster: Emma Lawton and Morgan Cross, both of whom have Scottish Women’s Premier League experience.
Lawton is a new addition at Partick Thistle, where she was named to the PFA Scotland SWPL Team of the Year in the previous season. She was a consistent starter for Brian Graham’s team and, as a result of her outstanding play, was called up to Scotland’s under-23 squad.
After a year with the SWPL team, Cross moves from Motherwell to join the Women of Steel, where she ends her tenure with ten goals. She was instrumental in keeping her team in the top division last season, and she has only become better this year, scoring in Celtic’s 5-1 triumph against the Scottish champion.
They now both train with Elena Sadiku’s team in preparation for their Sunday comeback to domestic competition. With these two young, talented players joining the Hoops, the team appears to be much stronger.
Morgan Cross and Emma Lawton are welcome to Celtic!
