Leeds United will consider bids for both Leo Hjelde and Lewis Bate in January, despite the fact that they are currently only playing youth football.
Leeds‘ youth group is currently bursting with quality, with several of those youngsters ready for senior opportunity.
The issue is that some of them won’t be anywhere near Daniel Farke‘s calculation for some time.
Lewis Bate and Leo Hjelde are expected to depart.
Phil Hay of The Athletic has disclosed that two players who have been absent from the squad for some time, Leo Hjelde and Lewis Bate, are set to quit the club in the new year.
He stated:
“By contrast, United are open to interest in Lewis Bate and Leo Hjelde, neither of whom is currently in the picture.” Bate’s contract is set to expire in six months.”
They aren’t the only players that are locked in the U21s and doing little to advance their careers.
In this article, we look at two more players that should be allowed to leave the club in January, whether permanently or on loan…
Darko Gyabi is on loan.
Gyabi was another player who many fans who had seen his U21 performances since moving from Manchester City were eager to see in the senior fold full-time.
He struggled as the first receiver in possession against Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Cup, frequently facing his own goal and failing to adapt to a situation that does not fit him.
The teenager attracted a lot of interest in the last parts of the summer window, but he ended up staying at Elland Road, where he hasn’t played for the senior team since.
He needs a loan move in January, and Leeds are unlikely to give up on their £5 million investment just yet.
Leeds, on the other hand, has pretty much given up on goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson.
At the age of 22, he isn’t even playing youth football and has little chance of playing in the Championship with Karl Darlow as a backup to Illan Meslier.
Klaesson has only made one competitive appearance for Leeds, coming off the bench against Wolves under Jesse Marsch and impressed with some outstanding shot-stopping.
However, nothing has come of it, and he appears to be an acquisition that will not yield a return on investment for Leeds.
