Hugo Lloris: Tottenham may back out of the agreement while Postecoglou decides
According to insiders who spoke with Football Insider, Tottenham is eager to cut Hugo Lloris‘ contract and work out a payoff with the seasoned goalie.
Ange Postecoglou, who has already made up his mind about the veteran’s future, has entirely shut out the 36-year-old Frenchman from the first team during the last year of his contract with Spurs.
Since August’s Premier League opening against Brentford, when number two Fraser Forster was sidelined with a back injury, Lloris has not made a matchday squad. Instead, youngster Brandon Austin was chosen.
In twelve Premier League games, the 27-year-old has given up 15 goals while maintaining four clean sheets.
After moving to Tottenham in 2012 from Lyon, Lloris has made 447 appearances overall, 361 of which have been in the Premier League.
However, he lost his starting spot to backup Fraser Forster in the 2022–2023 season due to a combination of injuries and poor play, and it now seems his time at Spurs is over.
Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League following a brilliant debut that made them look like unexpected title candidates.
The Lilywhites’ next game is on Sunday, November 26, against Aston Villa, who are currently in fifth position.
