Ange Postecoglou is still reportedly very interested in acquiring Gallagher, and Tottenham is reportedly trying to finalize a trade for the central midfield player in the summer.
A reliable source told Football Insider that Gallagher’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge is “up in the air,” which might open the door for Spurs to make a summer move.
Chelsea would want a large fee for the academy graduate, and any sale would result in pure profit on their books, a significant boost to their Financial Fair Play duties.
Spurs are confident of signing another player this month, following the permanent acquisition of Radu Dragusin from Genoa and the loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
They have now prioritised the acquisition of a central midfielder while continuing to pursue other possibilities.
According to Football Insider (13 January), Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is a target for Tottenham, with a loan fee of £5-6 million.
