‘Very close…’ The 27-year-old is expected to depart Leeds United permanently for a European club

Robin Koch left Leeds United on loan for 2023-24 last summer, with his Road contract set to expire in June – and now, Florian Plettenberg has an update

Koch, 27, left Leeds in the summer after three years at the club, one of eight senior players to leave on loan as a result of Victor Orta’s relegation loan provision written into Elland Road contracts.
He joined Europa Conference League club

in the intention of returning to Germany’s squad ahead of Euro 2024. He has certainly got the attention of Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann.

In his 23 Bundesliga appearances, the former Freiburg man has helped Frankfurt retain seven clean sheets while scoring three goals. This season, he has even captained Frankfurt on several occasions.

A permanent Leeds exit was predicted, and Koch was expected to join Frankfurt on a long-term deal after the summer. Plettenberg of Sky Germany thinks a deal for Koch to leave us is close.

It comes following speculations earlier this month that Frankfurt was planning a permanent deal for the defender after the summer. That appears to be the case, with Koch impressing.

He has excelled at Frankfurt, and it was always believed that he would leave us after his loan was over. Even if Leeds were to be promoted. Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, and Marc Roca are anticipated to join them.

However, there is a chance that Max Wober, Bris Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, and Jack Harrison will return to Leeds, with all of them linked with a second stint at Elland Road. Only time will tell.
